NYC 2011

Here's another lay out using my scraps of darkness kit, This is a pic of my friend in NYC last year. I loved the bo bunny red and black paper so much that i didn't really want anything too much doing to it. I used a martha stewart punch, the ribbon edger one to make the holes to thread the ribbon through. After i did the first one i realised sticking a bit of tape to the end helps it to not fray. I then used the note worthy bo bunny's to make the layering.

The huge red flower was my favourite out of the kit!!!! Couldn't wait to use them. I thought using a few light blue flowers would bring the blue in the smaller papers out and bring it all together properly.

I love new york can't wait to go back!!! pennies being saved as
we speak!!!!!

The shop

This the next of my lay outs with the needful things kit from SOD. i was surprised at how much you get in the kit. has kept me going for a while but wanted to get as much done as i could before moving on to the next kit.

The photos is of my sister and easily about 20 years old!! Our parents had a shop at that time and i thought what better than the Graphic 45 papers 'the old curiosity shoppe' cos it was kind of a quirky shop!!

My baba....

One of the challenges on SOD running through til the end of may is 'too cute'. When i saw the posted i knew there was only one animal for the job. Meet Kia he is an alsakian malaute, this was taken when he was about 12 weeks old, he was the size of a small labrador. He's 2 now and about 5'7' stood on two feet, cos he's as tall as me!! Although his name is kia i always call him my baba, and he always will be!! hopefully he won't get any bigger lol....

I used a few things from my stash, the lettering, the plain papers, and the chipboard swirlies. The rest is all from the kit!! and i have still have loads more to use!! hopefully i have time to do a few more before dinner!!!! :o) thanks for look, happy scrapping!!!

Needful things.... Scraps of darkness.

Finally i have got some scrap done from my needful things kit, from scraps of darkness. The kit was gorgeous and i couldn't wait to get started.

This is a pic of my mum, again!! She's a stately home, hence the title the manor. everything is from the kit. except for the words and letters. which where from my minds eye and 7 gypsies.

Its very inspiring having a kit and people to talk to about it and challenges and subjects to scrap about that you wouldn't normally think of. So thanks to all the dark scrappers out there, keep up the good work!!!

Malif 'SUE' lent...... (Wicked)

Say hello to my mother!!! She is in fancy dress and isn't usually a wicked queen hahaha. I cant remember what the fancy dress was for but i think it quite suits her!!
I used some papers from GCD called parisain they are really nice plush papers and although you can't tell from the photo some are flocked and or embossed, which give your l/o a really rich feel.
Also chopped up a prima 'say it with crystal and lace' embellishment using half at the top and half at the bottom.

The flowers are also prima, and the glittery black lettering is american thickets. The lace is scraps from my stash and i have a ton of it, i get it mostly from markets and tiny little craft shops hiding away in places you' never think to look. Because i can't bare to part with anything the off cuts end of in a ever grown bag of goodies, that i may occasional let the kids use, and i mean occasional!!!!

Daniel

It's been so hard for me to get a picture of daniel when he's looking at me and NOT pulling a funny face hahaha, he wanted a billy butlins bear so much and i think you can tell how happy he is to have him!!

I used bo bunny et cetera pack to make most of this l/o it had lots of lovely papers and some stickers and cut outs, really handy to have all the things you need matching and together!!the large lettering has been hiding in my stash for forever and i have no clue where it is from as the box went long ago!! be the smaller letters are from websters pages story teller, loving them at the mo. and the flowers are form prima!!

Happy days

My other half loves my work and calls him self a craft widow some days as i lock me self away to make the next project. He does however wonder why i tend to stick to the more vintage colours. i have tried explaining that this ages, shabby chic, vintage, what ever you want to call it look appeals to me more than bright colours and modern l/o's.

So just for you my love, here one of the kids on holiday queuing for a ride. Very colourful!!!!!

I used basic grey romania and the letter is webster pages story teller, and the flowers are from petaloo!!!

Friend wall hanger.

Even though this is hung on the door here it is meant to be a wall hanger. I took apart one of those bare chipboard mini albums and used one page. i inked all round the edge then stuck some paper over the top with PVA glue. when this was completely dry i sanded off the edges of the overlaying paper to give a neat edge. i've tried lots of different ways of covering bare chip board and this is by far the best it give an excellent finish.

I then used a corner punch to make the inner circle and added some prima flowers and a flora and fauna quote. it was all that simple, an look pretty. i also added a pearl from the tim holtz range to the ribbon, you may not be able to see it in the pic. ;0)

Emily

See i have definitely been busy crafting away, i used lots of different odds and ends for this l/o sometimes i'm determined to used actual scrap to make the layouts and not break into the nice new shiny things to make a page. So you name it its in there!!!

This is part of a book i'm making for my other half of his children, although i think i may be more than one book!!!! ;0)

My mum's mothers day card.

Well long time no blog!!! Although I've been busy with work and family stuff, i still made time to be creative. Only problem was finding time to blog the creativity, but here i am now!! i made a ton of mother's day cards for people and though as i had done this for everyone else i should do one for my own mum!! So there is the result......

I made her a 12x12 tri folding card, using mostly the flora and fauna range from K & co, she likes the earth tones greens and browns so this fit in perfectly. Only problem being it had to go int he post!!!!

Good news is it did survive!!!! ;0)

Mother's Day Cards

I know that mother's day is a fair few weeks away but i decided to make  a start. Not that i have lots of mother's!! but because i have a few friends that want me to make some for their mother's!!! i made these few out of already pre cut cards. The one above i punch the edge and inked it and then added the topper it is a very simple design for me as being more of scrapper, i tend to want to add more!!! I also added a dusty attic piece which i just love and they look brilliant with a spray of cosmic shimmer!!!

I tried stitching this one, now i can embroider, but whole different thing on paper, i think the best thing to do is NOT to use a thick needle because the paper doesn't retract back like cotton!!!! and although you can't see it on here the butterflies had a two toned effect that flashed purple looks a lot better in real life :0).

this one could be used for birthdays to. the paper is glittery, like i mentioned before they look so much better in real life. The lace is cream, hopefully i will get a better camera soon and then the pictures will come out better!!!!

12" tri folding birthday card

I've always like the tri folding cards. But they tend to be on the small side and when my mum in law asked me to make a card for her husband I thought it would be nicer to have something a little bigger. So this was the result!!!

I find it quite difficult to create masculine cards and layouts. But these papers by my minds eye are really good. The lost and found ones are just what I needed as he loves his horses!!!

Doris

I've had this layout hanging around half finished for ages, because i just couldn't find the right flowers to go on it. Finally i picked up some by petaloo. I've cheated a little by drawing the stitching on instead of actually stitching. And used a souflee pen.

A close up of my newly found flowers, the bigger one is actually by reflections flour boutique, but matched in nicely with the rest.

All the edged were distressed used tim holtlz distressing tool, a must have for any paper crafter. The butterfly is also reflections.

Flowers.

I was asked to make this for a friend of his late wife. Something I've never done before, as i didn't actually know the lady in the photo. Although i was very flattered to be asked by him. The paper used is one of my fav's at the mo, the K&co flora and fauna. i made the flowers using a spellbinders sunflower die. and hand cut and inked the leaves.

I've used a range of martha stewart punches here, from the floral crochet, three dots, monarch butterfly, and the deep edge daisy punch. They are worth the extra expense as they are very detailed, and give an excellent finish. In the middle of the flower is a tiny bit of flower soft and a gem. Not sure about the flower soft yet, but its growing on me :0)

I was going to use some of the dusty attic laser cut chip boards on here but after colouring them i found it made the picture to dark and heavy, so i used some prima say it with crystals and pearls. This was also the second lot of leaves as the first set were also bringing a darkness to the picture. Hopefully trial and error and had the best effect!!

Do you remember??

I normally have a few projects going at once, one of the ones thats been on going for a while is a album for my sister who will be 30 soon. (she will now kill me for posting that hahaha) This is of her when she is about 6 in my nan's back garden.

I made the flowers by ripping some flower shapes spraying and scrunching then piling them together. you also use a die for this. and the roses are from a spiral shape rolled up. A tutorial will be posted as soon as i have time to get it together!

The butterflies are from a spellbinders die cut, sprayed with some comic shimmer spray.

Nan's birthday Card

I made this card for my nan's birthday, as you can probably tell she like the purple tones. I used a crafters workshop stencil to make the flower shapes they were cut out of two 12x12 pieces of paper and sneakily stuck together with double sided tape and some ribbon. I used the type of ribbon that edges upholstery to make sure it was thick enough to keep it together. the patterned paper it K&co flora and fauna, the embellishments are to.

The flowers are from Prima and the crystal swirls are to, just behind the flowers is a tim holtz clock die cut. I inked all the edges with a cats eye chalk ink.

I then added these lovely letters from memory makers, they are already edged with a small gem. Which makes a nice accent to the lettering.

Strawberry fields

Here's another New York scene, the flowers where made by hand by just cutting out four of the same shape and alternating them, bending the petals up to give it a more raised look. again also inking the edges. The lace at the bottom was bought from my local haberdashery store from the off cuts. which works out a lot cheaper than the craft places. The flourish is a prima black say it with pearls cut in half, and the butterflies and floral edge are created from a martha stewart punch.

Angel fountain

New York, New York! Of course i have far too many pictures of my new york trip so choosing there best ones took nearly as long as scrapping them! For this one i used DCWV linen closet paper and co ordinating papers. with some prima flowers and leaves. also cut some of the leaves out with a wood ware  large leaf punch and then sprayed them with some cosmic shimmer mist. the butterfly is from a marianne die, also sprayed green with some mist and inked round the edges. Its not very often i leave an edge un inked or chalked, i think it gives the page more depth.

30th Birthday card

I used 'GCD parisian' for all the paper products here then some heidi swap circle gems. This paper can't help but make your project look good. its got a classic feeling. And has i sometimes find it hard to make masculine cards or layouts, this was an ideal choice.

Birthday Book

This is a piece of altered art. it was made for my friends daughters 7th birthday, i thought it would be more interesting than a normal run of the mill birthday card. It was made from a paper mania bare chipboard album covered with prima fairy flora paper.

Because my friends daughter was having a 'alice in wonderland' phase i decide to use some of those ideas with the 'eat me' , 'wear me' things. I put something on every other page that she could use in some way. from sweeties to hair slides! the sweets where soon gone, as you can see from the pic. haha but the rest of the items are still in tact.
Hi everyone, i am Jane, this is the new home for all my creative out put, hopefully you will be inspired by my creativity and produce a world of sparkle yourself!!!
As i'm fairly new to blogging please feel free to give me some pointers, all comments and criticisms greatly received :0)

A bit about my self. At the moment I'm living in wales (the country side in very inspiring) I've been making master pieces of some sort of craft for as long as i can remember. but over the last 10 years i have mostly stuck to the paper crafts mainly scrapbooking! saying that a lot of 'scrappers' don't make cards and steer clear of the altered art. i have to admit once into the scrapping i was definately a NONE card maker but now i have found my way and have made quite a few cards and altered art.

I get a lot of my supplies from ebay and various other web based outlets as good quality craft outlets are few and far between. (and my stash is rather large so i need a good variety). i am also very jealous of the fab products available in the states!!!!
